Day 22 - Koh Phangan Bungalow

The tuk-tuk ride this morning was a riot! I checked out of my hostel and hopped in the back of the shared ride with a bunch of people just leaving the Full Moon Party, all still in party mode. One guy in particular, covered in sand, smeared paint, and looking pretty rough, was sitting silently for about 30 minutes shaking his head no and mumbling. All of a sudden his head popped up and he asked "what do you think rainbows taste like?" I just about died laughing. He was obviously on something, and it was such a funny scene to witness. Meanwhile, the still intoxicated girls across from him had their arms in the air and were screaming "wooooooaaaaahhh" as we'd make corners, and go up and over the very steep hills on the island, as if they were on a roller coaster. Crazy, crazy kids!

After various drops of partygoers, I made my way north on the island of Koh Phangan, to the bungalow where I'll spend the next 4 days. Compared to my last few bungalows, this one is the Taj Mahal. Lol. I have real wooden walls and a tv! They're all staggered on a hill just above the beach, so they each have a nice view of the water, vegetation, and beautiful sky.

I walked up the beach a bit, picking up pieces of mother of pearl, that line many of the shells here. The thin shards separate from the shell, and line the sand.

As the sun started going down, I followed the sound of music to a chill little beach bar built on some rocks. It was overcast, so the sunset wasn't as extraordinary as I'm told it often is in this spot, but hopefully I'll be able to catch it one of the nights I'm here. :)

After dark, I watched a movie in my room, and booked a kayak tour in a marine reserve for a couple of days from now.
