Day 8 - Beach and City Exploring (ugh - sick)

I didn't plan much for today, because I'm fighting a cold, and woke up feeling pretty bad. Why here!?!? Why now?!?! :(

Decided the sunshine would be beneficial, so I stopped by a pharmacy and grabbed some vitamin C packets, and headed to the beach. I spent about 4 hours attempting to relax on my lounger (coughing every 30 seconds), and when a cloud blew over and opened up, I left the beach for shelter and walked through town this afternoon.

Tuk Tuk's (taxis) and motorbikes lined up along the main boardwalk.
Street carts travel around ringing a bell and local shop owners pop out of their stores to buy lunch.

I haven't tried any food from the carts yet (aside from banana crepes) because the restaurants have all been so wonderful. Today's lunch: super spicy Pad Thai. Third time I've had it - I really should move through the menu, but it's just so good!

This afternoon, back in my room, I booked my ferry to the Phi Phi islands. I'll be staying in a rustic hut for 2 nights, and will do a live-aboard (boat that you sleep on) off of Maya Beach on another night. (Where Leonardo Dicaprio's movie "The Beach" was filmed) You cannot stay on the island, so this is the closest I can get! I'll hang out on the island all day, and then sleep under the stars 50 meters off the shore at night. Really looking forward to it!

Early to bed tonight to try and ditch this nasty cold!!!
