Day 11 - Phi Phi Don Island

I shed a few tears when I arrived here. It's breathtakingly beautiful. Thailand has been at the top of my list for years. I have a travel brochure/tourism book that has sat on the bookshelf of every one of my homes for the last 12 years; it's practically worn out now, it's been flipped through so many times. It took me too long to get here, but it was so worth the wait...
I took the 2 hour ferry over from Phucket, arrived at the Phi Phi pier, and quickly found a long tail boat taxi to take me to my home for the next couple of days. Had I spent a few minutes more reading about my accomodations, I would have realized that they would have sent a boat for me, rather than me having to pay the equivilant of $12 to ride to the other side of the island. Oh well!
Arriving at my beach house. :)

My hut is so rustic and charming. Made entirely of bamboo and grass, I'm basically cohabitating with anything that wants to saunter in. There is literally a snakeskin hanging in the bamboo rafters. Which means, there is a (now slightly larger) snake that also calls this place home. No hot water, no electricity (only for a few hours at night) and a mosquito net over the bed round out the experience. :)
The afternoon will consist of a little dinner at the main cabana (my only option for food, lol), wandering the beach and reading in my hammock.
Looking forward to more relaxing tomorrow. Guessing I'll do some snorkeling, more reading and maybe a ride into town to explore a bit.
